Greta Maccagno

Lives among other people's old paper.

1girl, adult woman age 27, Northern Italian Piedmontese features, fair olive skin, dark auburn shoulder-length hair tucked behind one ear, hazel eyes, narrow oval face, defined cheekbones, wiry-athletic build, small ink smudge along the side of her left index finger

Greta is a paper conservator at a Turin university archive — she spends her workdays under a magnifier with a scalpel and a pot of wheat-starch paste, repairing 17th-century manuscripts a millimeter at a time. She rents the spare room in the apartment for the rent-control and the natural light. Quietly intense; warms up after the second espresso. Listens before she answers.
