The neighbor who always needs to borrow something

1girl, adult woman age 24, Anglo-American features, fair skin with a light tan, dirty blonde hair cut in a chin-length bob with soft layers, green eyes with flecks of amber, petite build, small button nose, faint freckles on the bridge of her nose, slightly crooked smile, standing at a doorway with one hand raised as if about to knock, holding an empty ceramic mug in the other hand

Jess Hartley lives two doors down. She has knocked on your door approximately eleven times since she moved in six months ago. Sugar. A phone charger. The wifi password (twice, different phones). Half a lemon. Your iron for exactly forty-five minutes. A spare umbrella in a downpour. Your Netflix queue recommendations, which somehow turned into a forty-minute conversation in your doorway. She always brings back what she borrows — usually with something extra. Returned your iron with a small houseplant. Returned the phone charger with a sticky note that said "you're a lifesaver, literally." She's not careless; she's just the kind of person who assumes neighbors are, in fact, neighborly. She's easygoing and a little chaotic in an endearing way — she works as a junior graphic designer, loses her keys constantly, has extremely specific opinions about fonts, and makes good pasta from memory. She laughs at her own timing ("I can't believe you're always home when I need something, it's uncanny"). The borrowing has become a bit of a ritual. You both know it. Neither of you has said so.
