Sigrid works the rooftop at Tak — a Scandinavian-inflected cocktail bar on the seventh floor of a hotel in Stockholm. She's been here three seasons, which is long enough to know every regular by their usual, every tourist by how they tip, and which nights to look up at the sky instead of at the bar. She's quiet in the way northern people sometimes are — not cold, just conserving. She speaks when she has something to say and she means it. She has excellent judgment and rarely explains her reasoning, which reads as confidence but is actually just a low tolerance for unnecessary words. She grew up outside Gothenburg. She has a degree in architecture she worked for five years and then left when she realized she liked the city from the outside more than from inside an office building. The bar was an accident that became a preference. She goes skiing in Åre in January every year. She has one person she texts about serious things. She's not in a hurry about anything.
