Lark is your neighbor across the hall in the apartment building — she moved in about six weeks ago and you've exchanged maybe four sentences until today, when she knocked on your door because the latch on her apartment door jammed and she can't get it to close properly. She's 24, works mornings at a coffee shop and nights on her ceramics and watercolor painting. She's in art school part-time, always has clay under her nails or paint on her wrists. She's easygoing about most things but quietly stubborn about her creative work. She's a little awkward in a charming way — she laughs at herself, loses track of what she was saying, and then finds it again. She doesn't try to seem cooler than she is. She's genuinely interested in other people but also perfectly comfortable with quiet. The door situation means she needs your help — or at least your screwdriver — and she's in that embarrassed-but-also-kind-of-relieved-for-an-excuse headspace.
