Channel AI support FAQ

Concise answers from our support team for common billing, account recovery, generation, sensitive-content, and mobile access questions.

How do I cancel my subscription, and why was I still charged after I canceled?

Cancel where you originally subscribed. For web billing, log in at https://channelai.ai, open the profile menu, choose Manage subscription, then cancel. For Apple billing, use iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Channel > Cancel. For Google Play billing, use Play Store > profile > Payments & Subscriptions > Subscriptions > Channel > Cancel. If you were charged after canceling, the most common reason is that the subscription was canceled in the wrong place. Apple-billed subscriptions can only be stopped in iOS Settings. Canceling does not delete your data and does not automatically refund the current billing period. If you are still stuck, email support@channel.surf with the subject "Cancel Subscription" and include your Channel user ID.

How do I get a refund?

Refund requests go through the place where you paid. For Apple purchases, use reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play purchases, open Play Store order history and request a refund on the Channel purchase. For web purchases, email support@channel.surf with the charge details and your Channel user ID. We can't issue App Store or Play Store refunds directly. We can review special cases such as accidental web purchases, annual subscriptions affected by the iOS app removal, or paid energy that was not delivered.

How do I log in across devices or link my account to an email?

Use the same Channel account on web and app by signing in with the method you originally used, such as Google, phone, email, or X/Twitter. Your companions, chats, and subscription should carry over when you use the same account. If you originally used Apple ID and no longer have a working login, email support@channel.surf with the subject "Apple ID Account Recovery" and include your Apple order ID, Channel user ID, or display name. We can send a single-use link to attach a real email to your existing account. Apple Hide My Email private-relay addresses cannot be used as normal login credentials.

Where do I download the app? Is there an APK?

We currently serve Channel on the web only. Open https://channelai.ai in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. You can use Add to Home Screen to make the website feel more like a native app. Apple removed the iOS app in April 2026 and Google Play delisted the Android app shortly after, both for content-policy reasons. There is no downloadable APK or iOS app, and we do not currently plan to return to either store. If you still have an old app installed it may keep working for a while, but it will degrade over time. Move to the website and make new purchases there.

Why did my image generation fail, and can I get my energy back?

Generation failures can happen because of short provider or queue outages, capacity crunches, bugs with some self-created companions, or content moderation. Try force-closing and reopening, switching between mobile and https://channelai.ai, refreshing, or waiting a few minutes. Energy is not automatically refunded on every failed generation. To request reimbursement, email support@channel.surf with the subject "Energy Reimbursement - Failed Generation" and include your user ID, the time, and the companion or generator name. The in-app support bot can answer general questions but cannot actually process refunds or escalations.

Why is my content coming out soft-core or not matching my prompt? Can I turn the NSFW filter off?

Two systems are involved. Generation-side filtering can rewrite or strip conflicting keywords before rendering, and this filtering is currently stricter on the web app because of platform and payment-processor requirements. Separately, rendered images can be blurred in the UI until you opt in to sensitive content. To unblur eligible content, use the Sensitive Content toggle at https://channelai.ai/settings. Full access to companion-generated images also requires an active paid subscription. Hard safety limits, including minor or illegal-content filtering, never unlock for any user on any platform.

How do I make my companion public?

There is no separate Publish button. A companion you create becomes discoverable in search and explore feeds automatically once it has a profile or chat photo set. A companion without a photo is silently hidden from discovery. If your companion still does not appear after adding a photo, email support@channel.surf with the companion name.

How do Channel AI image generators work?

Open an image generator, choose a suggested prompt or describe your image in plain English or your native language, then keep chatting with the bot to adjust the result. After an image is generated, open it and use Create More for options such as reroll, variant, or upscale when available.

What is the difference between reroll and variant?

Reroll uses the same prompt with a different seed, so the result can change more. Variant keeps the same prompt and seed but changes the sub-seed, so the difference is usually more subtle.

How does video generation work on Channel AI?

Generate an image first, then open the image and use the video button. The video model uses that image as the starting frame. Videos are five seconds by default, and upscale, extend, or HD options may cost additional energy.

How does Channel AI energy work?

Images and videos cost energy. Free users get 5 energy that replenishes every 2 hours, subscribers get more energy based on their tier, and one-time energy packs are available from the energy indicator. Free users can use energy directly with image generator bots, while viewing companion-generated images requires a subscription.

How do I manage or cancel a Channel subscription?

Log in at https://channelai.ai and use Manage subscription from the top-right menu. Current plan details and prices can change, so check the app for the latest tier information. For refund or account questions, email support@channel.surf.

Will my companions, characters, and chats carry over to the website?

Use the same Channel account wherever possible. Account-owned companions and content should stay tied to your account, but some older mobile-only chat history or locally stored conversations may not appear on web yet. If you are worried about losing access, email support@channel.surf before logging out, deleting the app, or creating a new account.

How do I add Channel AI to my phone home screen?

On iOS, open https://channelai.ai in Safari, tap Share, then tap Add to Home Screen. On Android, open the site in Chrome, tap the menu, then tap Add to home screen.

How do I delete, reset, or unhide a chat?

Delete a chat by swiping left or using Chat info, then Delete conversation. To reset a chat, iOS users can tap the top-right chat icon to start a new thread, while Android users can type /reset. To unhide a chat, use the plus button, search for the assistant, and start a new chat. On the mobile app, logging out or uninstalling can remove chat history because cloud sync is not available yet.

How do I upload images, delete generated content, or find mobile features on web?

Some mobile features are still moving to the web app and may not appear in every flow yet. Use the visible chat, gallery, and image controls when they are available. If you cannot find upload, delete, face swap, prompt-editing, or other generation controls on web, email support@channel.surf or ask in Discord so we can confirm whether the feature is available, rolling out, or still mobile-only.

How can I make image prompts follow instructions better?

Most users can prompt conversationally and keep adding tweaks, because we use an LLM layer to improve image prompts. If you want exact prompt control, add p: before your prompt to bypass the optimizer and send the prompt as written.

How does companion memory work?

Companions use recent messages plus a summary of earlier conversation history. Ultra Long Memory, available to Max and above subscribers, increases how much recent conversation context a companion can remember.

How do I get help or contact Channel AI support?

Email support@channel.surf for account-specific help, billing questions, refund review, login recovery, or generation issues that need escalation. Include your Channel user ID, account email or login method, order ID if billing is involved, screenshots when useful, and a short description of the issue so we can find the right account faster.
